Romans 8:35, 37 (NLT)

“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?  Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?  No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

There are days when I wonder what God is up to. It’s not a questioning of His authority in my life; it is more of a sense of curiosity.  Sometimes this curiosity is coupled with sadness, pain, or loss. Sometimes it includes celebration, joy, and hope.

This past month I was faced with the loss of my dad. During the years we had together, it mostly seemed like a wild roller coaster ride with a few exciting highs that were followed by a quick drop back into the realities of life. We didn’t have the lazy river type of life.

You know, where the currents run smooth and you lay back and enjoy the view. As a little girl I wondered why were some days so hard? Was there something I did to deserve this roller coaster ride when all I wanted was to be floating down the lazy river?

I have to admit that even now, I catch myself wondering…why these circumstances God? Why me? My little girl’s heart is curious. She watches and wonders, sometimes she hurts, and sometimes she is filled with joy! Have you ever asked God, why me? We can come together knowing that we are not alone in this questioning. Not only are we not alone, God has already given us the  answer.

Nothing can separate us from his love. Wow, that frees me up to set back in my inner tube and enjoy the river ride! It frees me to love others no matter what the circumstance. It frees me up to view the scenery as it really is. Come and ride the lazy river life with me where Christ is directing the current!
